Pacific Kings came out to play to start the game and shot out to a 16-7 lead, however their offense got artic cold and SoCal Sabers closed the first quarter on a 16-0 run. Pacific Kings spirit and energy levels were present, but I noticed it took a lot to score a bucket and fatigue eventually set in. SoCal Sabers scored a whopping 58 fast break points, mostly coming off poor transition Kings’ defense and turnovers. SoCal Sabers cruised to a 34 point victory in this first playoff round game, led by their 3 head monster of Jun Custudio, Red Guntalilib, and Jacob Ramirez. Robert Arinas had another solid game in the loss with 23 points and 13 rebounds, hopefully they will have Shan Boparai in their 3rd place match. The only obstacle I see for Sabers is that they haven’t been in a close game for a while, so a tight championship game might pose a problem.
